Olive joins the creepy Order of the Bat as an afterschool activity, and we learn more about her secret past!

Holy crap! The first issue of this comic was actually fun! That's right--a DC comic and the word FUN in the same sentence!! Call the Daily Planet! Seriously though, from the first double page spread to the last page cliffhanger, Cloonan, Fletcher and Kerschl knock it out of the park with creative visuals, strong female characters, action, intrigue and creepy school legends all wrapped together with a great Manga feel to create an adventure for readers of all ages!

TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS #1

(W) Gerard Way  (A) Becky Cloonan

Years ago, the Killjoys fought against the tyrannical megacorporation Better Living Industries, costing them their lives, save for one-the mysterious Girl. Today, the followers of the original Killjoys languish in the Desert while BLI systematically strips citizens of their individuality. As the fight for freedom fades, it's left to the Girl to take up the mantle and bring down the fearsome BLI or else join the mindless ranks of Bat City!

LAST CALL TP VOL 02

(W/A) Vasilis Lolos

The Ghost Train is the unearthly engine that travels between dimensions and through the void of space and time. When two normal teenagers, Alec and Sam, mysteriously end up on the train, they're thrown into a world unlike any they've ever seen and in the middle of a killing spree more chilling than anything they could have imagined! After being separated in Volume 1, the pair finally find one another, but it's not the reunion either one expects. Alec has aged ten years while Sam has only been on his own for ten hours! There's no time for the two to catch up though! There's still the issue of who is murdering the passengers and how it's connected to the boy's appearance on the train!

After 6!!! friggin years, Vasilis Lolos, one of my favorite comic creators of the past few years finally returns with his creator owned fusion of horror, mystery and comedy as two punk kids steal away from their homes one night hoping to find an adventure on par with the mind blowing metal mixtape blasting from the tape deck, but you know that old saying and things go from bad to weird to WTF in a manner of seconds!! Capturing a truly unique and indy style, Lolos infuses his books with a musical energy that few others are capable of matching, but for fans of Brandon Graham, Corey Lewis, Becky Cloonan and the serious METAL that is Chuck BB's 'Black Metal', this is a ride that is not to be missed!!! RECOMMENDED BY CASEY!!

SELF PUBLISH OR PERISH!! LOUNAK DISTRIBUTION!

While DC and Marvel may pay the bills, big name creators like Becky Cloonan, Karl Kerschl, and Andy Belanger have banded together to create Lounak Distribution; a collection of high quality, self published books straight from the artist to YOU. As expected, we here at Zanadu jumped on the chance to bring these titles to our customers and hope that people will discover the lesser known works of these fantastic artists!

ABOMINABLE CHARLES CHRISTOPHER VOL 1

(W/A) Karl Kerschl

Karl Kerschl, artist of The Flash, Teen Titans: Year One, and Assassin's Creed, introduced his webcomic 'The Abominable Charles Christopher' in 2007, following the adventures of a dim-witted sasquatch through a world of colourful animal characters. In the few years since its release it has won several awards, including the Eisner Award in 2011 for Best Webcomic. Rather than follow a traditional publishing model, Karl decided to self-publish a hardcover edition of the first chapter, which sold out almost immediately.

Now that same book has been reprinted in a beautiful softcover edition which we are excited to offer to retailers. Featuring a new painted and spot-glossed cover, this family-friendy book will be right at home on store shelves in the company of comics such as Bone and Mouse Guard.

I'm not sure of the best way to describe The Abominable Charles Christopher. To say it's like an unholy mash-up of Walt Kelly, Jeff Smith and Sumerian Mythology is true, but it misses the point completely. It is its own thing, and it does what comics do best: make a world and draw you into it."

WOLVES

(W/A) Becky Cloonan

The critically acclaimed short story that sold out of it's initial print-run of 1,000 in just two months is back in stock! It also ships with a free WOLVES bookmark, while supplies last.

As a lone hunter tracks an elusive beast through the forest, he reflects on his life and past love through a series of flashbacks, bringing the story to a climax that is as romantic as it is violent. This powerful mini-comic lends itself to multiple read-throughs, never giving concrete answers but (like the best enigmatic endings) leaves your own conclusions satisfying.

MIRE

(W/A) Becky Cloonan

The much anticipated follow-up to 2011's WOLVES, THE MIRE is a self-contained story set on the eve of battle, when a humble squire is given the task of delivering a letter to a decomposing castle in a swamp. Met with mysterious apparitions, he slowly unveils the truth about why he was sent there, as his past is re-written over the course of twenty two pages.

BLACK CHURCH

(W/A) Andy Belanger

Andy B's 40 pages of pure black and white mini-comic destruction, in a blood red, hand stamped 7" record jacket with a color cover. 7"x7".

1430. In the bitter dark of the Transylvanian winter, Vlad Dracul and his brother narrowly escape their Turkish captors, fleeing into the woods and almost certain danger. There he is entranced by a mysterious witch- but when a prophecy arises that claims their child will be the Antichrist, Vlad is forced to make a difficult decision for the future of his country, the Order of the Dragon, and his son: DRACULA!

BLACK CHURCH is one part The Omen, one part Game of Thrones, and all parts METAL!
