Each issue is a meticulously hand-crafted compendium of fresh and exciting takes on the fantasy genre from a mix of established indy stars and up-and-coming creators. With stories that range from comedic shorts to serialized mini-epics, the return of the new ELFWORLD series is sure to breath new life into one of comics' most beloved genres, and will serve as a new home for indy-fantasy tales for years to come.
Issue 1 features a light-hearted tale of a magic and messengers by Alec Longstreth (Phase 7), gallows humor from Dash Shaw (Bottomless Belly Button), an illustrated guide to dragon mating behavior by Jane Samborski, a dark tale of hunter and hunted by Grant Reynolds (Comic Diorama), and much more, including work by Xeric-grant winner Ben Costa (Pang, the Wandering Shaolin Monk), J. R. Parks, Eve Engelos & Josh Moutray (Icecreamlandia), and David Enos (Peter Magazine).
