Sam Kieth has long been renowned for his stunning artistry and insightful and quirky stories. Now, IDW is proud to present a re-mastered edition (complete with new scans of all Maxx pages from the original art) with revised coloring, all overseen by Kieth.
The Maxx tells the story of a homeless person who lives in a box and moves back and forth between our reality and "The Outback," a heroic fantasy realm. He is aided and accompanied by Julie Winters, a social worker in our world and a beautiful jungle princess in The Outback.
If you're my age, you probably remember sneaking out of bed after your parents fell asleep and creeping into the living room to turn on the T.V. for one small glimpse of show that came to define a generation of dropouts and drug addicts--Liquid T.V. (Ok, sure, the Maxx first aired on MTV Oddities, but you get the idea.) The images found in this series and the others on that magical hour of late night nonsense remain in my memory like fragments of a dream that are almost too powerful to fully recollect. Now, we are blessed with the true distillation of that insanity in the form of Sam Keith's madcap masterpiece, The Maxx, presented here for a new generation of weirdos!
